Sarah Harvey-Franklin
Hi! I'm Sarah, a passionate and kind yoga teacher dedicated to guiding students on their journey toward mindfulness, strength, and balance. I believe in creating a welcoming space for all levels of practitioners, and my goal is to help you discover the transformative power of yoga in both body and mind.
My yoga journey began at 21, right after graduating from the London College of Fashion and starting my first job as a Womenswear Designer. Life quickly became stressful, and yoga became my peaceful escape amidst the urban chaos. My first teacher, Sharon—an ex-ballerina—was a source of immense inspiration. Her strength, precision, and unwavering will showed me how getting older could be strong, healthy, and exciting. Through her, I found that yoga could remove the fear of aging and transform my perspective on life.
After completing my teacher training during the pandemic, I faced personal challenges that paused my teaching journey. Yet, yoga helped me heal and reignited my passion for teaching, fueling my desire to share its transformative power with others. I’ve since left the world of fashion design to teach yoga full time, fully embracing this new chapter.
After completing my 200hr YTT with YogaLondon, I was eager to continue my education in Yin, Yoga Anatomy, and Mindfulness. These courses have deepened my understanding of yoga’s science and allowed me to incorporate anatomy into my teaching, helping students move with greater awareness to unlock their full potential. The mindfulness course expanded my understanding of stress and meditation, while Yin taught me about the energetic body, the nadis, and the profound benefits of a slower practice on the fascia and ligaments.
I teach with a holistic approach that integrates physical movement and mental clarity. Breathwork is a central passion of mine, and I strive to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment where students feel safe to explore their practice, leaving each class feeling rejuvenated and empowered. I especially love teaching arm balances, making them accessible to all by focusing on the mechanics and anatomy behind each pose—not just relying on strength.
As a queer person, overcoming the internal struggles of understanding my identity has provided a solid foundation for my teaching. I aim to help students—no matter their identity—build a healthier, more loving relationship with themselves and cultivate non-judgmental love for themselves and others.
Outside of yoga, I’m an artist with a deep passion for painting abstract landscapes. I enjoy surfing, hiking, and being outdoors. Family and friends are a vital part of my life, and cooking is truly my love language!
That’s a wrap! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or just want to chat.
Warmly,
Sarah
